There once was a very good website that broke down each helmet type the Finns used to the years in service and the numbers purchased. That site has long since shut down but here is the next best thing.

If seeking out a helmet, priority should be given to finding a WWI Austrian or German helmet or an M38 Hungarian helmet. These are the primary helmet types our impression uses.
Other allowable types are Swedish M37/ Finnish M40, Czech M34 and to a lesser extent the German M40/42 and the Italian M/33. These should be used only if you cannot acquire our primary helmet types and must be approved on a case by case basis.
The German M35, Sohlberg or WWII Soviet helmets cannot be used.
